For many years The Halfway House was a landmark at the junction of Highways 6 and 24, the mid-trip turn between Simcoe and Port Dover.  (It was also halfway between Simcoe and Port Ryerse, and Simcoe and Vittoria.)  Original building erected in early 1850s. Burned in 1906. Location of a gas station in the mid-1950s.  Today the northeast corner of highways 6 and 24 is a farmer's field. From the 16 Sep 1915 Simcoe Reformer Brown's Corners personals column: An auction sale of the old organ was held in the hall here last Thursday.
