Culver -- pioneer settler Timothy Culver had a son also named Timothy Culver, who also named a son Timothy Culver. The grandson celebrated his 80th birthday 13 Feb 1899 at his home in Townsend. Two of his grandchildren, John J. and Mary Culver of Welland, could not attend, but sent a letter that included this observation: "you have lived 80 years to observe a great many changes ... There will probably never be 80 years again in which society will undergo so many changes." [WS18990223p1]
