Births Marriages Deaths Etc. indexed here are from birth, marriage and death columns found in microfilmed copies of local newspapers, augmented with articles from the same newspaper and data from other sources -- such as cemetery stones, and birth, marriage and death registers, including Ontario Vital Stats. This Index is not a transcription. It is only a summary of information found. Always check source documents yourself. This index omits information useful to extend family records. Each entry ends with a source code in [square brackets]. For example, an entry from the 29 Jan 1907 Simcoe Reformer newspaper ends with [SR19070129]. Photocopies of all Simcoe Reformer, Waterford Star and British Canadian newspaper source documents are available from the Norfolk Historical Society (see Photocopies). It is always best to list the original document as your information source -- once you have checked it out. Citing web pages is problematic at best, as these dynamic online partial transcriptions are subject to change as proof-reading and subsequent research warrant. Further, web sites themselves are not stable. They close, move, etc., and may not be accessible later. But it may be best to list these web pages as
your source temporarily, until you can confirm the data in source documents. To do so, we
suggest using the following format: |
