"In the hearts of hundreds of old Norfolk boys and girls there will ever remain a tender place for the memory of the great Norfolk educationalist, J. D. Christie, beloved ex-principal of Simcoe High School, who died at Daytona, Florida, March 3rd, 1924.  Born in Yarmouth, N.S., he came to Simcoe in 1889, after teaching in Grimsby, Peterboro, St. Catharines and Chatham.  Served over 30 years as principal of Simcoe High School.  For a considerable length of time was Warden and Sunday School Superintendent of Trinity Anglican Church. Chairman and Secretary of Simcoe Public Library for many years."
