W. A. Charlton Hon. William Andrew Charlton
"Born May 29th, 1841, in New York State. Came to Norfolk County and settled at Lynedoch in 1861. Resident there until 1895, when he and his family moved to Toronto, but retained the old home at Lynedoch and occupy it part of the time yearly.  Engaged in mercantile business and lumbering 1861 to 1895, then in lumbering.  Member of Ontario Legislature 1890-1905. Speaker of the Assembly in 1903 and 1904 and Commissioner of Public Works part of 1904 and 1905.  Elected a member of the House of Commons in 1911 and again in 1917.  Appointed member of the Privy Council in May, 1921. Is President of the National Sanitarium Association and of the Toronto Hospital for Consumptives, and on the Board of Governors of the Victorian Order of Nurses for Canada and Chairman of the Toronto Branch. President of Chartered Trust and Executor Company, Toronto."
