Transcriber's Preface
by John Cardiff
Last updated: 02 Jan 2014

The accompanying Photos & Bios Articles are transcriptions of 1924 Simcoe Reformer newspaper articles found on microfilm in the archives of the Norfolk Historical Society at the Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe.

This series of Articles is still being developed. Check back from time to time for additional articles and additions and changes  to the 1924 Names and Addresses list.

The constantly evolving nature of this list includes updating entries to fix typographical errors and/or to reflect data from other sources, as errors are discovered. We recommend re-checking older entries from time to time for the latest version.

Most source articles were transcribed in their entirety. Abbreviations (if any) are indicated by three dots -- [e.g. "they included ... and their son"]. Difficult to transcribe text appears in [square brackets], as do [transcriber's comments]. Text that may appear to be transcribed in error but in fact is accurately transcribed is followed immediately by "[sic]."

Our alphabetical list of Names and Addresses of Old Boys and Girls living beyond Norfolk is not an exact transcription. It is being culled from lists in a variety of newspaper issues and being merged into a single list. Where duplicates are found, they are included "as is."  A few "also see ..." entries were added by the transcriber in hopes they might assist researchers. Some addresses were abbreviated and are therefore incomplete.  Sequencing errors in the source document were not duplicated in our transcription. A few street addresses start "co" which is assumed to be an abbreviation of "care of."

Each Name and Address ends with a code explaining where it was found. For example, entries ending with [SR19240403 p.6] were found on page 6 of the 3 Apr 1924 Simcoe Reformer. It is possible errors were made in creating this transcription, so we recommend confirming the information yourself by ordering a photocopy of the source document. Source document photocopies are available for $5 each photocopy. Just send the issue code and your cheque to:
