Notes:
This surname is frequently misspelled Leisk, Lisk, even List, in the historical record. Scottish sailor Abram immigrated to Canada in 1848 specifically to sail schooners on the Great Lakes, which he saw as a great opportunity. He bought a farm in Windham Township and sailed out of Port Dover. His brother-in-law Henry Anderson was his first mate. Eventually they prospered and Abram purchased a second schooner which Henry captained. Abram and Mary retired to Port Dover where she operated a store. Also see: his photo & bio.
