Notes:
George came to Canada age 4 and was raised in Windham Township where he subsequently farmed. In 1872 he suffered a double leg fracture due to an accident while clearing a stump from his field. George is shown as a land owner in Charlotteville Township (his first wife's home township) on the 1877 Norfolk Atlas. A 1893 Simcoe Reformer article says he delivered 104 bushels of apples weighing two tons twelve hundred weight to the canning factory. Later in life he lived in Simcoe on Robinson Street, Water Street and Lynnwood Avenue. His mother's 1897 death notice identified him as "Councillor George Leask of Simcoe." After George died, his second wife made her home with her elder step-daughter, Ella, in Simcoe.
