Notes:
Joseph was a Presbyterian lumberman with extensive holdings in Norfolk, northern Ontario, and the U.S. It was his quest for an amphibious boat that led West & Peachey to invent and build the Alligator warping tug. He was one of the brothers-in-law who first invested in William P. Innes' canning factory. Joseph was elected to the Provincial Legislature and later served as Sheriff of Norfolk.
