"J.B." left school at 13,
became telegrapher
and train station master.
His father-in-law sent him to the U.S. to learn the lumbering
business.
His father called him home to take over the building supply
business of his
ailing brother, Geo. H. Jackson. "J.B." renamed
the firm J. B. Jackson. Firm prospered as coal merchant, produce supplier, and Canada's
largest egg exporter to Britain. Mary Eliza grew ill. J.B.
hired practical nurse Mary Bruce to care for her. They married after
Mary Eliza died. He brought sons into the business when they
returned from WWI. Presbyterian, "J.B." died while attending a meeting at St. Paul's in Simcoe.
