Hawthorne -- John Hawthorne, 57, one of the best known horsemen in this section of the country, died 22 Jun 1914 at his residence on Norfolk street south in Simcoe. A member of the firm Hamilton & Hawthorne who were among the first to import the famous French horses, he had lived a Jarvis and Port Rowan before moving to Simcoe, Survived by wife and daughter Miss Erie Hawthorne.
