"Born in Devonshire, Eng., March 6, 1851. Came to Canada in 1855.  Lived in Simcoe 50 years, where he has conducted a milling business. Was Mayor of Simcoe two years.  Warden of Norfolk one year. School Trustee ten years.  Treasurer of Simcoe Lodge 161, I.O.O.F. for 30 years."
