Notes:
Charles emigrated in 1912 and wrote Coming to St. Williams. Bessie's father died in St. Williams when she was two. Her mother died in Chicago when she was 14. Bessie's aunt Edith became her legal guardian and raised Bessie in St. Williams after that. Charles and Bessie wed at her grandmother, Mrs. E. S. McCall's home. Charles farmed briefly then was an upholsterer and carpenter for Walter McCall's furniture business. Charles and Bessie spent much of WWI in England; two of their children were born there. After living a while at Hespeler, Ontario in the early 1920s, they moved to Port Rowan where they lived the rest of their lives. Bessie's cousins Jean and Kathleen Brock attended both their wedding and their 50th anniversary party. Bessie never forgot her Aunt Edith's kindness in raising her, and had a chance to return it when she nursed Edith through her decline.
