B.Th. "Second son of Dr. and Mrs. A.W. Smith. Born Simcoe, Oct. 4th, 1877. Graduated in Arts from McMaster University 1900, and in Theology 1903. Ordained to Baptist ministry June 2nd, 1903. Missionary in India 1903-1915. Granted commission in Indian Army 1915. Served during Great War from July 1916 in Mesopotamia, also through the Arab Rising of 1920. Thrice mentioned in despatches [sic]. Granted retention of rank on retirement. President Simcoe Canadian Club." Also see: his 1951 obituary |
