"Born in Simcoe, Aug. 6th, 1858. Educated Simcoe Union School and Osgoode Hall. Practised law in Kincardine and Walkerton, 1881-1914. Appointed County Judge of Lanark 1914.  Member Bruce County Council 1888-1902. Warden Bruce County 1894.  O.C. 32nd Bruce Regiment 1891-99."
