Rev. Thomas Green, M.A., B.D.
"Pastor of St. James Methodist Church, Simcoe, since July 1922. Born Toronto, Mar. 10, 1879. Son of James and Ann Green, both now deceased. Received his education in Toronto Public Schools, Harbord Street Colliegate Institute, Toronto; B.A. 1902, Toronto University; B.D. 1906, Victoria College, Toronto. Spent two years, 1906-1908, as Scholar and Fellow in Philososphy in post-graduate studies for the Ph.D. degree at Columbia University, New York City. During college days won the Chown Scholarship in Philosophy third year; Sanford Gold Medal and Governor-General's prize for oratory 1906, and held the Scholarship and Fellowship in Philosophy at Columbia University, New York, 1906-1908. On June 3, 1908, he married Miss Grace Eloise Miles, then Fin.-Sec. of the U.S. National Board of the Y.W.C.A., and daughter of the Rev. E. S. Miles of the New York Methodist Conference. Was received on probation for the Methodist ministry in 1902 by the Toronto Conference. Ordained in Euclid Ave., now Queen St. Methodist Church, Toronto, by the Toronto Conference in June 1906. Has successfully served the following churches: As a probationer, Phoenix, B.C., 1902-04; since ordination, Robson Memorial Church, Vancouver, B.C., 1908-12; Centennial Church, Victoria, B.C., 1912-1915; Dundas Street Church, Woodstock, Ont., 1915-1918; Grace Church, Dunnville, 1918-22; St. James Church, Simcoe, since July 1922. Was President of the Victoria, B.C. Ministerial Association. Chairman of the Woodstock, Welland and Simcoe Districts in the Hamilton Conference. Delegate to General Conference of the Methodist Church, 1922. Mr. Green is a member of many local organizations and takes an interest in every effort for the best interests of Simcoe."
