Notes:
Joseph was seven years old when his birth family migrated to U.S. 
As a lad he found work at Auburn State Prison where his father worked. 
The mill manager there tutored Joseph who subsequently delighted in telling others he was educated at Auburn State Prison. 
Joseph came to Norfolk with his birth family when his father worked at the newly created Norfolk Woolen Mills in Port Dover. Joseph subsequently founded the 
Brook Woolen Mill in Simcoe, a major local firm for many years.
