"Born at Plymouth, Eng., in 1852. Came to Canada at an early age and settled in Simcoe. Started shipping business in 1868.  Has been President Simcoe Electric Light Co., Norfolk Shoe Co., Simcoe Mitt & Glove Co., Simcoe Board of Trade. Member Town Council 14 years. Mayor two years. Chief Fire Department 30 years."
