Notes:
Raised primarily by his widowed mother, Zebulon attended the grammar school of Rev. Geo. Salmon in the winter months as a youth. An intelligent and prosperous farmer, he was also active in the lumbering business with holdings in Michigan, Arkanas, and the North Carolina turpentine forests. About 1880 he bought the John Axford farm at the south edge of Simcoe where he erected a spacious and comfortable home. He and his second wife lived there until their deaths. Also see his photo and bio.
