Mrs. Ansley Yeager Passes

On Tuesday night of this week there passed away one of the most excellent and most motherly of Christian women in the person of Alice Lemon, beloved wife of Mr. Ansley Yeager.

She had not been well for some time, but the end came very unexpectedly and was a very great shock to her many friends in Simcoe.

Mr. and Mrs. Yeager came to their present home some twenty-five years ago.

Mr. Yeager's success with horses made his name a familiar one all over Ontario, and both he and Mrs. Yeager had a wide circle of friends.

They were deeply attached to one another and much sympathy is being expressed for Mr. Yeager in his irreparable loss.

Mrs. Yeager was born in Townsend on 9 Aug 1863, the daughter of the late Elanson [sic, actually Alanson] Lemon and Anne Austin, and was one of a family of eleven children.

Three sisters, Mrs. Thomas McKnight, Mrs. Matthew Holtby and Mrs. Laura Massecar, predeceased her; and three sisters survive, Mrs. Arthur Smith of Simcoe, Mrs. John Abel of Silver Hill, and Mrs. A. McIntosh of Pontiac, Mich.

Of her five brothers two are living: C. M. Lemon of Toronto, and Warren Lemon of Brandon, Man. Her brothers John and Harry Lemon died some time ago, and another brother died in youth.

Deceased was married 47 years ago to Mr. Ansley Yeager, the marriage taking place on Christmas Day. Her two daughters, Gladys (now Mrs. W. H. McLaughlin of Hamilton) and Della (now Mrs. W. G. Jackson of Simcoe) both survive.

The funeral will take place this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock from her late residence, Norfolk Street south, to Oakwood Cemetery.
