TAYLOR-BACKUS

A quiet but pretty wedding took place on 2 Feb 1921, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Backus of Charlotteville, when their youngest daughter, Miss Voila Mildred, became the bride of Mr. Joseph Rupert Taylor, youngest son of Mr. John Taylor of Simcoe.

Rev. D. A. Moir performed the ceremony in the presence of the immediate relatives. The bride looked charming in a gown of white voila and satin and carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses.

She was attended by her cousin, Miss Verna Hammond. Mr. Harry Barnett of Teeterville, cousin of the groom, acted as best man. The groom's gift to the bridesmaid: a gold broach set with pearls, to the best man, a gold tie pin.

After the signing of the register a dainty luncheon was served. The happy couple left amid showers of confetti and good wishes on the 9.15 G.T.R. train for a short honeymoon to points west, the bride travelling in a suit of reindeer broadcloth with hat to match. On their return they will reside in Simcoe.
