Passing of George Mitson

After a serious illness of only seven days' duration, Mr. George Mitson, contractor and well known citizen of Simcoe, passed away last Friday in his 65th year at his home, 104 Union Street.

Mr. Mitson was born in Port Dover on 5 Jan 1856, and was the son of the late Samuel and Lucy Mitson. He had been a citizen of Simcoe for 50 years, being in business here most of that time. The cause of his death was heart failure. For two or three years he had been poorly, but it was only just recently that he started to fail rapidly.

The funeral service was conducted last Monday at the house by Rev. D. A. Moir, assisted by Rev. A. R. Farney and Rev. Mr. Chapman of Waterford. Interment took place in Oakwood Cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs. James, William, [Thomas], David, Samuel and Harry Mitson. There were many beautiful floral tributes.

Deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Cassel Mitson.
