Port Rowan

Mrs. Charlotte Barrett died at her home in Aylmer on Wednesday of last week and her remains were brought here for burial on Friday.

The late Mrs. Barrett was a daughter of the late James and Mary Dease, and was born in Port Rowan. She married the late Captain [Hosias] Barrett and they were residents here for many years.

They moved to Port Burwell, where they carried on an extensive livery business until the advent of the automobile.

A few years ago, after the death of her husband, Mrs. Barrett and her only surviving son bought a livery business and returned to this village, and in the course of a few years sold out and moved to Alymer.

The deceased, in addition to her son Oran, is survived by one sister, Mrs. John Thompson and one brother, J. A. Dease, both of Port Rowan. She was 76 years of age at the time of her death and had many friends in this village.

The funeral was held from the station immediately to the cemetery and interment took place in the family plot beside those who had preceded her to the Great Beyond. The Rev. J. S. Smith of the Baptist Church, of which the deceased was a member, conducted the service.
