Obituary

Samantha Woodley died Saturday, 6 Apr 1921. Deceased was born in Townsend in the year 1844. She was a daughter of John Woodley. In the year 1865 she married J. W. Barber, who predeceased her 14 years. Four children were born to them, three of whom are living: Mrs. Jarvis of Waterford, Mr. Herbert and Miss Luella at home.

About 50 years ago she united with the Bloomsburg Baptist Church where she remained a consistent member till the time of her death. Her long life was spent in the Township of Townsend, and this was an indication of her character, she had no desire to roam, home to her was the centre of her heart's desire, and the beautiful home in which she died showed that her late husband joined heartily with her in doing their part to make this township as beautiful and attractive as possible.

The later years of her life were spent as an invalid. Creeping Paralysis slowly but surely taking possession of her whole system. She was tenderly and patiently carried for by those at home during her long illness, which was born with Christian fortitude and at last very quietly went out from her earthly home to her home in Heaven.

The funeral service was held in her late home, where a few words of comfort were spoken to her Pastor from Heb. 11-16, "The God Prepared City." Her body was then laid away in Greenwood Cemetery.
