The Late Maria Whitehead

Maria Whitehead, widow of the late Thomas Whitehead, was born 3 Nov 1826 in Windham, and died 9 Mar 1910 at the age of 83 years. Interment took place Saturday afternoon, 12 Mar 1910 in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Six children are left to mourn her loss:
Nelson of Delhi, Calvin and William at home,
Mrs. Joseph Misner of Nixon,
Mrs. John Jamieson of Bethel, and
Mrs. Wm. Trembley of Simcoe.

"Aunt Maria" as she was affectionately called by many who knew her, was in every sense of the word, a good woman. Patient industry was one noticeable trait in her character, and through all the years of changes no matter if clouds loomed above the horizon, Aunt Maria could see bright spots peeping through the gloom of the day and tomorrow the sun would shine again.

As old age gave its warning that her years were numbered, she accepted the verdiict with her usual calmness and as day succeeded day she realized that the hour was near when her life must yield to the inevitable, and thus she died as heroically as she had lived, mourned by many who knew her for what she was. Her memory should be cherished, not for a day, but for years to come, a remembrance faithfully earned.
