Former Waterford Boy Married

Fonda, N.Y. Democrat. -- A wedding of unusual interest throughout the valley took place in New York Tuesday, when Mrs. Bertha Mills Stewart, daughter of Alexander H. Mills, and Dr. Alonzo Barton Foster, both of this village, were united in marriage. The ceremony, which took place at 9 a.m., at Hotel Cumberland, 54th street and Broadway, was performed by Rev. J. Collings Oaton of Brooklyn, formerly pastor of the Reformed church of this village.

The only other persons present were Alexander H. Mills and Mrs. Stetson Leach, father and sister of the bride, Mills Stewart being unable to reach there in time on account of his boat being delayed. Mrs. Stewart and her father arrived in New York a few days since, after spending several weeks at Dayton, Fla., and other southern points.

Immediately following the ceremony Dr. and Mrs. Foster left on a 10-day wedding trip to Detroit, Michigan and Waterford, where they will visit the former's people.

The bride, who is a most attractive personality, is prominent in the social circles of the valley and takes a leading part in the affairs of the Reformed church and and Laura M. Starin Industrial School of which she is first directress.

Dr. Foster who is a native of Canada, has been located in Fonda for the past 20 years and enjoys a large practice, having fully demonstrated his ability as a physician and surgeon and is popular among all classes. He is a graduate of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, also of Homeopathic College and has been the recipient of numerous political and fraternal honors.

Both Dr. and Mrs. Foster have the best wishes of a host of friends for their future happiness. Upon returning from their honeymoon, they will reside at the Mills residence on Broadway, where they will be at home to their friends after June 1st.
