A lightly edited partial transcription of the Waterford column on page 6 of the 9 Dec 1920 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

WATERFORD

A well known resident of Waterford and Townsend, John D. Renner, aged 79, died in Galt Hospital, Friday, 3 Dec 1920.

Deceased was born near Hartford and lived on the Renner homested until two years ago. Owing to failing health he and Mrs. Renner went to Galt to live with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Appleton.

About two weeks ago Mr. Renner was taken to the Galt Hospital for treatment.

He is survived by a sorrowing widow and three grandchildren: 
Arthur Appleton of Galt,
Ed. Appleton of Buffalo, and 
Fred Appleton of Edmonton.

The remains arrived in Waterford on 6 Dec 1920, and the service was held at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. J. D. McLachlan, assisted by Rev. J. B. Moore. Interment took place in Greenwood Cemetery.

Among those attending from a distance were: Mrs. Renner and 
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Appleton of Galt;
Mr. Challen of Simcoe, a brother of Mrs. Renner;
Edward Appleton of Buffalo;
Mr. and Mrs. James Appleton and daughter Nellie; 
and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Renner of Hamilton;
as well as many old friends and acquaintances from the vicinity of Hartford.
