Port Rowan

James Ponting died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. Cronk, in Selkirk, last Sunday, at the age of 67 years.

He was a son of the late Mark Ponting and was but one year old when his parents came from England and settled in Port Rowan, where they always afterward lived, and where surrounded by the disadvantages of those early days, the deceased early life was spent.

He married Miss Ruth Cronk, who died 27 years ago, leaving him with a family of small children, of whom one son and four daughters now live to mourn his loss: Herbert of Port Rowan,
Mrs. W. Cronk and Mrs. N. Edsall of Selkirk,
Mrs. F. Beasley of London and Mrs. M. Perrett of Toledo.

He is also survived by four brothers and two sisters: George of Sandusky, Elgin and Fred of Detroit,
William of Tillsonburg, Mrs. E. Delsanto of Detroit and Mrs. John Boyington of Port Rowan.

The remains were brought here by auto for burial on Tuesday, and the service conducted by the Rev. Hiscock assisted by the Rev. H. Smith, was held at the home of his sister, Mrs. Boyington the same day. Interment took place in the family plot in Bay View Cemetery.
