A lightly edited page 5 item from the 30 Jun 1921 issue of the Waterford Star newspaper.

Simcoe, 28 Jun 1921 -- Maude Pearce, the winsome young lady who lived here until recently with Dr. Bessie Collver, now Mrs. Dr. Cathcart of Port Lambton, was drowned at Port Lambton on Sunday and the remains are to be interred here today.

Miss Pearce, during her residence in Simcoe, proved herself to be a young lady of excellent parts, and she made many friends here who will greatly regret her early demise.
