Waterford

William McKerlie, whose home is about five miles from Waterford, had not been well since Christmas, but became much worse about two weeks ago. Last week Miss McKerlie of the Waterford Public School Staff, had to remain at home to take care of her father, and Miss Nellie Perkins took her place in the school. Mr. McKerlie seemed to be gaining and on Friday was up for a short time, but was very weak, and Saturday morning passed away very suddenly.

The deceased was aged 61 years, and was a well-known and highly respected farmer of Townsend Township. Mrs. McKerlie died a few years ago. The late Mr. McKerlie is survived by two daughters, Misses Alice C. and Beatrice, at home, and three sons, Albert of Townsend, Gordon of the teaching staff of Terrace Hill School, Waterford., and John, who is attending the University of Toronto.

The funeral, which was largely attended, took place on Monday afternoon, 31 Mar 1921. There was a short service at the home at 2 o'clock, and after thge interment in Wilsonville Cemetery, the regular service was held in the Wilsonville Methodist Church. Rev, Robert Rodgers conducted the service. For years the deceased had been a faithful member of the Wilsonville Methodist Church.

Death of Wm. McKerlie

Mr. Wm. McKerlie died at his home in Townsend on 19 Mar 1921 after an illness of about a month with Bright's Disease. Not many of his friends had realized the seriousness of his illness and his death came as a surprise, bringing the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of all. His was the soul of honor and his friends and friendships were sacred to him.

He was a son of the late Walter McKerlie and was born on the farm on which he died. He married Theresa Bannister, who pre-deceased him about three years and one-half. To them were born three boys and two girls: Albert, Gordon and Jack, and Alice and Beatrice. One brother, John, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Bartholomew, also survive, all of whom had the sincerely sympathy of a wide circle of friends.

The funeral was held from his late residence on Monday afternoon, the service being conducted by his pastor, Rev. Rogers. Interment took place in Wilsonville Cemetery.
