Death of Mr. Geo. Hayward.

Mr. Geo. Hayward, familiarly known as "Daddy," died at his home in this place on Saturday morning, after an illness of several weeks.

He came to Waterford in 1873 and assisted in the construction of the Canada Southern Railway. His son, Fred, also came with him and assisted on the new road. Mrs. Hayward and family followed a year after.

For years "Daddy" worked for the Canada Southern. He will be remembered by hundred of ex-pupils of the high school, where he was janitor for years.

Mr. and Mrs. Hayward were married 63 years ago and nine children were born to them, three of which are living, Mrs. Hearn, Fred of Brantford, and Lewis of Chicago.

Mr. Hayward was a member of Trinity church in this place and the funeral service on Tuesday afternoon was conducted by his pastor, Rev. Ward. The funeral was largely attended by his many friends, whose sympathy is extended to the bereaved widow and family. There were many beautiful floral offerings, tokens of the high esteem in which deceased was held.
