WINDHAM CENTRE

It was with regret that we learned that Mr. Robt. Green had sold out and was going to move to Toronto. Mr. Green was Clerk of the Township of Windham for 40 years, and it was difficult to see how we could get along without him.

However, as their three sons are in Toronto, two of them holding responsible positions, and the third attending the University where his brother is a Professor, it was impossible to prevail upon them to alter their decision.

Accordingly, a large number of their friends turned out to give them surprise, which was held in the basement of the Methodist church. After the gathering has assembled an invitation was sent to them. In fact, an escort was sent to bring them. An appropriate address was read by the pastor, Rev. Russ, and several valuable pieces of silver were presented to them.

They were completely taken by surprise, but each one, Mr., Mrs. and Miss Green, responded in a few well chosen words. An enjoyable hour was spent in social intercourse. The next morning they left for their new home, carrying the best wishes of a host of friends with them.
