A lightly edited partial transcription of the Vanessa column on page 5 of the 14 Apr 1921 Waterford Star. [Compiler's Comment: Durant was frequently misspelled Durent and Durrent.]

Vanessa

There was a very enjoyable time spent on 4 Apr 1921, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Roberts Sr., in behalf of her mother, Mrs. M. E. Durrent [sic], who makes her home there, as it was her 84th birthday.

There were present at the surprise: two sons:
Mr. Abram Peaker and wife of Townsend Centre, and
Mr. Phinas Durrent [sic] and wife of Charlotteville, two daughters,
Mrs. Wm. Roberts of Vanessa with whom she is staying, and
Mrs. Wm. Collins and family of Round Plains.

Five grandsons: Mr. Chas. Winegarden and wife of Delhi,
Mr. Lawrence Collins and family of Round Plains,
Mr. Wm. Roberts Jr. and family of Teeterville,
Mr. Isaac Roberts at home, and
one granddaughter, Mrs. Milton McMullet of Vanessa.
The number present all enjoyed a good time.
