[Compiler's Comment: This item is the only mention of Frank Cowell we have found in Norfolk's historical record. We have found no Attestation Paper for him. Nor have we found a cemetery stone for him in Norfolk County. Also see:

Simcoe, 1 Nov 1921 -- Major A. A. Winter this morning received notification of his appointment as lieutenant-colonel of the Norfolk Rifles and his first act upon receiving promotion was to order a military funeral for the Simcoe war veteran Frank Cowell [sic], who died yesterday afternoon.

The deceased went overseas with the 133rd Regiment. He will be buried at Oakwood Cemetery on Thursday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. A firing party will be selected at the G.W.V.A. rooms or the commander's office to-night at 8 o'clock. Sergt. Tees will be in charge.

Lieut.-Col. Winter succeeds Lieut.-Col. L. F. Aikin [sic] as commanding officer of the Norfolk Rifles.
