The Late Miss Chadwick

A wave of deep sorrow passed through the village of Colborne on Monday evening, when it was known that a life-long resident, in the person of Miss Fanny D. Chadwick, has passed on to receive the reward of a well-rounded life.

Miss Chadwick was the daughter of the late Samuel Chadwick and Mary E. Hugo, and was born on 22 Aug 1852, in the house built by her father, on the corner next to the Old Windham Church.

Practically her whole life has been spent in this locality, where her unaffected and friendly disposition made her a favorite with all.

Death was not unexpected, as she had been ailing since early spring and during the last few weeks the decline had been rapid.

The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, the officiating minister being Rev. H. C. Newcombe of the Simcoe Baptist Church, of which deceased had been a consistent and much respected member for many years. Interment in Old Windham Cemetery.

There remains to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs. Frank L. Collver [sic]of Cherry Valley Road, and two brothers, Samuel and Ben, both of Simcoe, besides a number of more distant relatives and a host of friends whose lives have all been enriched by contact with her cheerful and contented spirit.
