An unedited transcription of a paragraph of "Vittoria Cullings" in 2 Mar 1910 British Canadian.

Another old landmark disappeared last Thursday morning, when Frank S. Smith's store was burned out. The building was a good brick one, built some 60 years ago by the late William Finlay, and occupied by him as a store for a time; he afterwards sold to the late Peter E. Young, who carried on a large mercantile business for many years, being succeeded by his son, C. P. Young. For the past 20 years Frank S. Smith has carried on a most successful and popular business. He had greatly improved the building with a new roof, metallic ceilling [sic], etc., and lately natural gas had been installed for both lighting and heating. Nothing was saved of the large stock on hand. The cause of the fire is a mystery, as Mr. Smith is positive that the gas was turned off properly and that there was no fire left in the place when he left it late the night before. There is an insurance, but Mr. Smith suffers a loss, as does the community at large at the elimination of the "old stand."
