A lightly edited transcription of the St. Williams column on page 2 of the 18 Mar 1920 issue 
of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

ST. WILLIAMS

One of St. Williams oldest and most respected residents passed away on Tuesday, 17 Feb 1920 in the person of 
Mrs. Jonas Cope (nee Victoria Woodward).

The late Mrs. Cope was in her 82nd year and until two weeks before her death (caused by pneumonia) was still very active.

She was born in England and came to Canada in 1842 with her parents. In 1860 she married the late Jonas Cope and had lived near St. Williams ever since.

Deceased leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, Mrs. Walter Price, and two sons, William and Thomas.

The funeral was held at the Methodist Church on Thursday, 19 Feb 1920 at 
2 o'clock. Service was conducted by 
Rev. J. Melvin Smith.
