Mrs. John Beemer Dead

On Tuesday evening, 31 Dec 1901 the people of Colborne and vicinity were startled by the sad intelligence that one of their much esteemed citizens, Mrs. John Beemer, had suddenly passed away, after a brief illness of about three days.

Mrs. Beemer, whose maiden name was Sarah Wood, was born in Townsend 14 Oct 1830. She was the eldest daughter of Wm. Wood, who resided for many years in Windham. Upon the decease of her mother, she endeavored to fill her place and succeeded most remarkably.

She joined the Freewill Baptist church in 1850 and when it broke up about 1865, she joined the Methodist church in Simcoe and continued a member of the same until her decease.

About 45 years ago, Miss Wood was united in marriage to Mr. John Beemer, to whose children by a former wife, she proved a mother indeed. She had four children, three of whom died in infancy and one at the early age of 17 years.

Mrs. Beemer was very devoted to her family and was one to whom numerous friends resorted for true sympathy and hospitality.

The deceased has one brother and three sisters living viz:-- D. C. Wood of Windham, Mrs. Wm. Collver of Woodhouse Gore, Mrs. Thomas Bowlby of Port Dover, and Mrs. O. Steinhoff of Townsend.

She was taken with pneumonia and passed away most peacefully, trusting in her Savior.

To the bereaved husband and all sorrowing friends, we extend heart felt sympathy. May all meet in the bright eternal home.
