Joseph Gabriel Winter

Joseph Gabriel Winter died 4 Jul 1929 at his home, after an illness of several months. Deceased was born 25 Jun 1870 in Charlotteville, a son of the late Walter Anderson Winter and Ruth Winter.

With the exception of a number of years spent in Springfield, where he conducted a merchant tailoring establishment, deceased had been a resident of Simcoe for practically all his life. Few men were more highly respected by all that knew him as "Gabe" Winter.

Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his loss three brothers: Lt.-Col. A. A. Winter, K.C., Guy T. Winter of Windsor, Lorne Winter of Windsor, and one sister, Mrs. Edward Austin of Simcoe.

The funeral from his late residence 28 Colborne Street, last Sunday was officiated by Rev. A. L. Howard of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church.

The large number in attendance and the numerous beautiful floral tributes were evidence of the sympathy for the widow and brothers and sisters as well as the fact Simcoe has lost one of her most highly esteemed citizens.

The pallbearers were William Clunas of Waterford,
D. W. Henry, Tyler Leeson of Springfield, C. A. Bennett, Dr. Bell and Angus Munro.

Among those from a distance:
Mr. & Mrs. Guy Winter of Windsor,
Miss Revere and Mr. Westover of Sarnia,

Mrs. Leeson Sr., Mrs. MacDonald,
