A Big Gator

Messrs. West & Peachey are now building the largest alligator warping tug they ever turned out. In fact it will be as big as three or four of the other ones.

It will be sent to South America and is to be completed by the first week in March. The boat will be 115 feet over all and 20 feet beam. There will be two engines of 1[6]0 horsepower each and a 200 pound pressure boiler. Intead of a stern paddle wheel. [sic]

Mr. Jas. Peachey will take the boat to its destination and remain there for one year to run it.

West & Peachey

In giving a resume of the industrial growth and enterprise of Simcoe, we must not neglect to mention the foundry of West & Peachey, where they manufacture engines and boilers and a special line of canning factory machinery, as well as manufacturing Alligator Warping Tugs, which they manufacture especially for various Companies in Northern Ontario and the Yukon.

These tugs are undoubtedly the proper thing for the country to which they are sent to work, as they can run on land almost as well as in water.

In their foundry they do all sorts of moulding and repair work. They repair everything in the line of machinery and supply all kinds of castings very reasonable in price.

They give employment to a number of hands to whom good wages are paid. The firm is one of the most substantial here and their business is one of the best.

Personally, they are, both men, held in high esteem by all classes.
