A lightly edited partial transcription of the Items of Local Interest column on page 1 of the 
13 May 1920 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

Verna Gertrude Walsh, wife of Otto Ward of Windham, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Walsh of Simcoe, died suddenly at her parents' home, 119 Market Street, on Saturday morning last, in her 21st year.

Deceased was taken ill only three days previously at her Windham home, and on the advice of her physician was removed to the home of her parents on Friday.

During the night acute peritonitis developed and the young life passed away.

The funeral was held on Monday afternoon to Oakwood Cemetery and was conducted by Revs. H. C. Newcombe and Mr. Taylor, the pall-bearers being Messrs. L. C. Cratt, Arthur Edmonds, Russell McIntosh, George Lea, 
Earl Coates and Roy Everett.

Much sympathy is extended to the husband and to Mr. and Mrs. Walsh and family in their sad bereavement.
