Mrs. S. E. Wallace

One of Townsend's oldest residents, Mrs. Sophie Elsie Mandeville, widow of Samuel Wallace, died Saturday, 3 Mar 1951 at her late residence, near Rockford, in her 92nd year.

A daughter of the late Nicholas Mandeville and Sarah Scarlet, she 
was born 16 Jan 1860 in Woodhouse Township. She attended 
Wiggins School and in May 1888 married Samuel Wallace, who predeceased her in 1928.

She was a member of Tyrrell Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Bertha at home, and Mrs. Sadie Woodley of Waterford, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters Mrs. Ida Hall and Mrs. Jennie Wilson, both of Hagersville.

The funeral service was conducted on Monday afternoon at Mott Brothers' Funeral Home in Waterford, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
