William Somers was Townsend Resident

Following several years illness the death of William Cyrus Somers occurred at the family residence on Tuesday, June 25th, in his 71st year.

Deceased was born near Rockford on March 9, 1865, and lived in Townsend township all his life. Twelve years ago he purchased the Bancroft farm north of the Air Line C.N.R., where he had resided during those years.

Last March 21st Mr. Somers and his wife, Maggie Erwin, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. 

Two weeks ago today Mr. Somers suffered a stroke which confined him to his bed, his condition rapidly becoming worse.

Deceased was very highly respected in Simcoe and in Norfolk county generally. He was a member of St. James United church.

Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Mrs. Craig Easton of St. Catharines, one son, Dalton, at home, two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Wyckoff of Simcoe, and Mrs. Samuel Vance of Tillsonburg, and four brothers, Robert E. and Ashton Somers of Simcoe, Albert of Waterford, and Milton Somers of Tillsonburg.

The funeral will be conducted this afternoon (Thursday) at 2 o'clock from his late residence, Rev. G. K. Bradshaw, pastor of St. James United church officiating.

The pallbearers will be four brothers, a brother-in-law and a cousin: Robert E., Ashton, Albert and Milton Somers, Samuel Vance and Frank Somers. Internment will be made in Oakwood Cemetery.
