Drowned in Silver Lake

Mr. Bush of Jarvis drove to Port Dover on Saturday afternoon and disposed of a load of hides at the tannery.

He then drove to Silver Lake to water his horse, and it slipped off the rapidly shelving bank.

Mr. Ward Sovereign went to the assistance of Mr. Bush, and told him to keep clear of the horse if he could swim.

Mr. Sovereign's advice was heeded by Mr. Bush who started to swim on his back, but the horse kicked him on the shoulder, and he sank to rise no more.

Several parties at once set to work grappling for the body. The horse was also drowned.

This is the second accident in the same spot this year, and fifth in a few years.
