George W. Sherk

The death of George W. Sherk occurred Monday afternoon at his home, 63 Talbot Street South, Simcoe, following a brief illness in his 68th year.

Born at Carholme, deceased was a son of the late Uriah Sherk and Lucy Swain. He had farmed on the homestead most of his life, retiring a few years ago and moving to Woodstock, where he lived for a year before coming to Simcoe more than three years ago.

Besides his wife, formerly Estelle Webber, whom he married 39 years ago, he is survived by one sister, Miss Della Sherk of Woodstock.

The funeral was held Wednesday from the Walsh Funeral Home. Rev. W. J. Copsey of Mt. Zion United Church, formerly of Carholme United Church, was in charge of the service, assisted by Rev. C. C. Macdonald of Carholme United Church. Interment was in the Woodstock Mausoleum.

The pallbearers were W. W. Carroll, Wesley Gee, Neal Newman, Herbert Laurie, Dr. W. J. Drennan and Ross Burnham.

Among the lovely floral tributes were tokens from Nicholls' Bakery, the Ladies' Aid of Carholme United Church, friends in Woodstock; and Woodstock Neighbors.
