DEATH OF A. W. SHAVER

Woodstock lost one of its most valued citizens in the death on Thursday of ex-Ald. Arthur Wellington Shaver.

He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. George Bezley, Woodstock; three sisters, Mrs. O. Robertson, Simcoe; Mrs. B. McCool, Waterford, and Mrs. J. McFarland of Lanigan, Sask.

Mr. Shaver had been ill for some time, but his death was unexpected by his many friends.

He was born in Harrisburg 69 years ago, and lived in Waterford in his early days.

In 1890 he was married to Ellen P. Whyte of Oxford county, the couple later moving to Yorkton, Sask., where Mr. Shaver was a homesteader for 14 years.

Coming to Woodstock in 1911, Mr. Shaver became keenly interested in public affairs, and that interest led him into municipal life.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, in which organization he was also an interested worker.
