The Late Letitia Reid Townley

The death occurred on Sunday morning, 14th August, 1910, of Mrs. Letitia Reid Townley, after an illness extending over several months. Although a fatal termination of her sickness was looked for, the end was sudden and her son, Mr. Wellington Townley of Chicago, did not arrive until after her death.

Mrs. Townley's maiden name was Letitia Reid, and she was born in the village of Belturbert, County of Cavan, Ireland, on March 3rd, 1832. She came with her parents to Canada in 1840, and they settled in the southern part of Norfolk County.

Two brothers and a sister survive her, Mr. John J. Reid of Stoney Creek, Ont., Mr. Robert Reid of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Samuel A. Shields of Nickerson, Kansas.

On Oct. 9th, 1858, deceased was married to Mr. Thomas Townley, for so many years a tailor in this town, who survives her after a long wedded life of 52 years.
