ALEXANDER MERCEL

Mr. Alexander Mercel, LaSalette, R. R. No 1, died at the Brantford General Hospital on Monday morning after an illness of six weeks. Mr. Mercel was born in Windham Centre sixty-four years ago, where he attended McKnight's school as a boy and later farmed.

In 1899 he married Mary Alice Kelso of Windham Centre who survives him, also one son George Mercel of Burford and two daughters, Mrs. Fred Walker of Scotland, Ont., and Mrs. Hugh Montgomery of Clute, Ont. There are also three brothers, Wm. Mercel of Waterford, John Mercel of Scotland and George Mercel of LaSalette and one sister Mrs. Nora Slaght of Delhi.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, August 2nd from the home with services in  St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Windham Centre, of which he was a member. Rev. Wm. Carpenter of Brantford conducted the services and the pallbearers were Messrs. H. McKnight, A. R. McKnight, H. Wilson, W. Bain, A. Munn and John Neal. Interment was made in Windham Centre Cemetery.
