Miss Margaret McAlpine
(Waterford Star)

The death of Miss Margaret McAlpine occurred Sunday night at the home of her niece Miss Jennie Erwin after an illness of three weeks following a stroke.

Miss McAlpine who was eighty seven years of age was the daughter of the late John McAlpine and Mary McLaren McAlpine and was born at Villa Nova where she lived for more than eighty years in one house, keeping house for herself until the last.

On the day of the stroke she had mowed the lawn and brought in a supply of wood. She was never feeble but alert and vigorous.

The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. E. J. Whan of Villa Nova of which Miss McAlpine was the oldest member. Rev. J. L. Guinn and Rev. H. Wilkins assisted with the services.

Among those present from a distance were: Mr. C. E. Fray of Hamilton and Mr. A. McFarlane of Strabane, both eighty-seven years of age and cousins of Miss McAlpine, Mr. and Mrs. James Wright of Brantford, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Booth of London.

She is survived by three nieces: Mrs. Richard Booth of London, Mrs. Clarence Hellyer and Miss Jennie Erwin of Waterford.
