A lightly edited partial transcription of the Vanessa column on page 3 of the 8 Jan 1920 issue 
of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.

The death occurred on Saturday, 20 Dec 1919 of Russell Leonard, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Shepherd, at the age of 71 years.

Deceased had been in poor health for about four years, and a few weeks ago he fell and broke his hip, which hastened his death.

The funeral was conducted on Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in Vanessa Cemetery, beside his wife.

There are left to mourn his demise three sons and three daughters, viz.:
John and William of Townsend, and 
Shulter of Brandon, Manitoba;
Mrs. W. McKerlie, Mrs. Roy Grant and Mrs. Albert Shepherd of this place, who will have the sympathy of the whole community in their bereavement.
